What is our Mass Transit Vision 2040?

Mass Transit is a large-scale public transport system in a metropolitan area. Typically, Mass Transit would use one or more of modern, high-capacity buses, trams and tram-train vehicles.

Our Mass Transit Vision 2040 shows how Mass Transit will help make West Yorkshire’s public transport network more accessible and more inclusive, while also helping us achieve our aim of net zero carbon emissions by 2038.

What has happened so far:

In 2021, a public engagement was held on the Mass Transit Vision 2040 as part of the wider Connectivity Infrastructure Plan engagement. In this engagement, support for the Vision was strong, with around 80% of respondents saying they supported the Vision, either fully or in part.

All feedback received during the engagement was analysed and informed the revised version of the Vision. Additionally, a ‘You said, we did’ document was produced to reflect the comments received as part of the engagement. You can find this here or on the documents section of this page.

What is happening now?

Now, a statutory consultation is being held on the revised West Yorkshire Mass Transit 2040 Vision ahead of the final Vision being formally approved and implemented. We want to hear from statutory consultees, key stakeholders and the public about whether they support the revised Vision.

People are also being encouraged to sign up to Your Voice to keep up to date with the latest developments on Mass Transit.

Please complete the short survey below. The consultation will close on 16 January 2023.
