When is this happening?

The latest programme shows completion of the car park expected for May 2024.

Where exactly is the new car park being built?

On the below image, the area outlined in Red is the location of the new, multi-deck car park. This area will be closed to the public for the duration of the building works. The area in Yellow shows the area of the overflow car park, not the portion which will be closed for the contractor’s compound. A portion of this car park will remain open for the duration of the works to allow public parking, with a new road access on Steeton Grove.

Please note that the pedestrian access from the car park to the platform will be closed for the duration of the works. Please use the main entrance on Station Road.

How much will the improvements cost?

The total cost of the scheme is £4.59m, funded by the West Yorkshire Plus Transport Fund.

How long will the car park be closed?

Building the new car park will mean closing the existing main car park for the whole construction period. Please note the public access from the car park to the platform will also be closed during this time – please use the main entrance on Station Road.

Are there any alternate car parking arrangements?

An area of the overflow car parks will remain open and available to visitors to the station for the duration of the works. It is anticipated that approximately 40 spaces will be available across the two overflow car parks.

As there will be limited parking availability throughout the construction period, station users are being advised to consider alternative arrangements and, where possible, to walk or cycle to the station.

What provision for accessible parking will be provided during the construction works?

Alternative accessible parking is available at Keighley Station offering 5 spaces, and Crossflatts station offering 9 spaces.

Will the works affect my train service?

No services will be disrupted by the works at the site.

Will there be a charge for parking once the car park reopens?

No, it is not the Combined Authority’s intention to introduce parking charges at the station car park.

Will there be facilities for cyclists?

Yes, the existing cycle storage provision will remain at the station.

Will the new car park have CCTV?

Yes, a new CCTV system will be installed at the car park.

Who will operate and maintain the new car park?

The completed car park will be operated and maintained by Northern Trains Ltd.
