  • Share 1. Could you confirm if the existing guard railing is to be removed as part of this project. 2. Could you confirm how the toucan crossings will operate with the traffic stages/phases at this junction so I can understand how pedestrians/cyclists will be able to go between the new cycle track and Methley Road for example 3. Can the detail of how cyclists would transition from on-carriageway to the shared us paths be provided please on Facebook Share 1. Thank you for your your questions.

1: No guard railing will be removed as part of this project. The reason being is that Barnsdale Rd (A639) experiences high volumes of traffic and is therefore appropriate to retain the guard rail on the grounds of highway safety.

2: A Toucan Crossing enables cyclists to cross the road at exactly the same time as pedestrians. Signal stages/phases therefore are not changing.

3: Cyclists will transition from on – carriageway to the shared use path via newly installed dropped crossings. These dropped crossings will be accompanied by lining & signing where appropriate in accordance with LTN 1/20.
