Thank you for your feedback on this scheme, this engagement has now closed and is the information is being analysed. The outcome report will be published on this page later this summer.
Background
West Yorkshire Combined Authority is proposing accessibility improvements at Guiseley Station. The project plans to deliver additional fully step-free access options between platforms, making it easier for everyone to access. The plans include installing a new footbridge with lifts.
Making stations more accessible is part of our vision for the Weaver Network to help more people travel easily and confidently across the region.
Proposals
These proposals will make it safer, simpler and more convenient for all passengers to move between platforms, especially people with disabilities, older people, families with prams and anyone carrying luggage.
As we continue to roll out the Weaver Network– West Yorkshire’s new integrated transport network – we aim to make everyday travel more accessible for more people. By making the station more accessible, we aim to encourage more people to choose to travel by rail, supporting both climate goals and inclusive growth in West Yorkshire.
Key features:
A new pedestrian footbridge linking platforms one and two
Two new lifts providing step-free access
How to have your say

Next steps
After this engagement, we will carefully consider the feedback received, refine our proposals and prepare the material required for the full business case.
The project team are aiming to submit the full business case for approval in 2027. Construction will follow, with the scheme expected to be operational in summer 2028.
This is subject to obtaining the relevant approvals.

The current proposals do not make any changes to the existing arrangements for cars and taxis dropping off at the station.

The accessibility improvements at Guiseley focus on providing step-free access between platforms, including a new footbridge with lifts and stairs, to make moving around the station easier, particularly for those with reduced mobility, luggage, or pushchairs.
Addressing the gap and step between the platform and trains is not part of this scheme.

Moving the bridge further down the platform means we can build a wider, modern bridge that meets today’s safety and accessibility standards. It also reduces the impact on nearby homes. This part of the platform is also wider, which helps keep enough space for passengers to move safely and comfortably.
The current bridge will stay in place while the new one is built, so passengers can continue to use it. It will only be removed once the new bridge is ready.
Share It says we can get to Guiseley station event by using public transport, which bus goes to the station? Thank you for your message and for raising this point – it’s very helpful feedback.
You’re right to highlight that there isn’t a bus service that stops directly at Guiseley station. The nearest bus stops are approximately a five-minute walk from the station, which we appreciate may not be suitable for everyone.
We will review the wording in our communications to make this clearer and avoid any confusion. To clarify, the scope of this project does not include a review of bus services or wider connectivity to and from the station, including bus routes serving the area.
For those who may find it difficult to access the station, we’d also like to highlight that we are holding a drop-in session at Guiseley library. This is intended to provide an accessible alternative location where people can come along, find out more, and share their views. We will ensure the details of this session are clearly communicated.
Menston rail accessibility scheme was completed in March 2026 and delivered step-free access between platforms at Menston station. Key outcomes include the installation of new lifts, a modern footbridge, enhanced CCTV, tactile paving, improved passenger information systems, and a refurbished accessible footpath. Passengers benefit from £7.8m accessibility upgrade at Menston station
