Update: 2nd March 2020
Trial Pits
Bradford Council will be undertaking a series of trial pits in the footway at various locations along Canal Road, Otley Road, and Manningham Lane during spring 2020. An example of what a trial pit looks like can be found below:
Why are we doing Trial Pits? Trial pits are being undertaken as one part of an information gathering exercise. In this instance the Pits will help to accurately locate and identify buried services and structures, identify the makeup of the footway and ground underneath, determine ground water levels and indicate any likely contamination. The information will be used to help determine the design of the scheme through identifying suitable location to place new infrastructure such as tree pits, lighting columns, street furniture, and structural foundations.
Who will be undertaking the work? The Council retains a list of approved contractors that can undertake such works. A Council Engineer will be out most days to inspect any works undertaken.
How long will it take to do the Trial Pits? Trial pits will be undertaken during the months of Spring and we expect minimum disruption.
