Section A

The aim of this scheme is to provide improved accessibility to Halifax and Huddersfield, by sustainable modes along the A629 corridor. These proposals include:

  • New and improved cycle route /s and infrastructure between Halifax Station and the Calder Hebble junction via an extension of the Hebble Trail
  • Faster bus journeys between Halifax and Huddersfield, including an express service calling at Halifax and Huddersfield bus stations, Halifax , Huddersfield and Elland Rail Stations and Calderdale Royal Infirmary
  • Improved bus stop facilities including real-time information
  • Live travel information signage along the A629 and around Halifax town centre

Section B

The aim of this scheme is to provide improved accessibility to Halifax and Huddersfield, by sustainable modes along the A629 corridor. These proposals include:

  • New and improved cycle routes and infrastructure around Elland, linking to the proposed Elland Station
  • Faster bus journeys between Halifax and Huddersfield, including n express service calling at, Halifax and Huddersfield bus station s, Halifax , Huddersfield and Elland Rail Station and Calderdale Royal Infirmary
  • Revise d 503 bus route around West Vale and via the new Elland bypass off-slip (see Section C)
  • Improved bus stop facilities including real-time information
  • Traffic lights and live travel information
  • Reducing congestion in West Vale via junction improvements
  • Public space improvements around Elland and West Vale

Section C

The aim of this scheme is to provide improved accessibility to Halifax and Huddersfield, by sustainable modes along the A629 corridor. These proposals include:

  • New and improved cycle routes and infrastructure between Elland and Ainley Top, including improvements to the shared footway alongside the A629
  • New northbound off-slip on Elland Bypass into Elland, complementing the existing on-slip
  • Reduced speed limit to 40mph from Ainley Top to Huddersfield Road (slip road)
  • Extension to the southbound bus lane approaching Ainley Top
  • Faster bus journeys between Halifax and Huddersfield, including an express service calling at Halifax and Huddersfield bus stations, Halifax , Huddersfield and Elland Rail Stations and Calderdale Royal Infirmary
  • Minor improvements to Brighouse Road and Lindley Moor Road at Ainley Top
  • Improved bus stop facilities including real-time information
  • Traffic lights and live travel information
